Cypraea Helvola Honey Cowrie Seashells: 10 pcs of Honey Cowrie Shells / Honey Cowry, Eyed Cowry Shells, Natural Seashells, Shells for Crafts, and Jewelry Making Supplies
One of the most beautiful cowry shells we have put our hands on. The Cypraea Helvola, the common name Honey cowry or eyed cowry; is a species of sea snail, a cowry, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Cypraeidae, the cowries that feed on polyps on coral reefs. It is found in the Indo-Pacific region and also around the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Cyprea or Cowry shells are active at night and hide during daylight. They feed on algae near coral reefs.
These cowries are absolutely stunning with a speckled beige to brown pattern and once polished, it is very smooth and shiny. We truly love them! These eye cowries are small shells that have been used in all sorts of crafts for centuries; from mirror decor to animal and shell characters, you name it. Some cultures also trade them as money and some consider them a symbol of fertility and are often offered to a bride as a gift to ensure fertility. They are colorful shells that work well for making jewelry such as pendants and earrings in native crafts.
If you're a shell collector, you must have some of them in your collection.
