Oxymeris maculata, common name the marlinspike auger, is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Terebridae, the auger snails. From the Red Sea and in the Indian Ocean off Aldabra, Chagos, Madagascar, the Mascarene Basin, Mauritius and Tanzania; in the Pacific Ocean off Mexico; also off Papua New Guinea.
These beautiful cut Terebra maculate seashells are of true beauty. The color is a white cream with some yellowish stripes and brown speckles throughout, the spiral cut gives it a space on top for a little piece of ribbon and the shells are perfect to be used as ornaments and home decor. Note that the shells have a little weight to them because they're large shells, from 4.5" to 5.5 inches cut in a spiral - truly, so beautiful.
